people making their way out of the east bay up and over the bay bridge towards the city of san francisco. clouds and fog overnight we do have a chance of rain back in the forecast by thursday/friday. today rain showers in abundance across southern california. we need some rain to clear out our atmosphere. therefore we still will have a bit of haze in the atmosphere but not as murky as the sky condition was today. it will not be a winter spare the air day for your sunday. temperatures going up tomorrow 58 degrees in pacifica. 60 vallejo 63 will be common from fremont through union city. the extended forecast, we see some very mild conditions on monday then the numbers begin to go downward tuesday/wednesday. we introduce a chance of rain showers on thursday and friday even though the computer models appear to be a little bit bullish on that chance, and we have no rain in the forecast for the super bowl tomorrow in new orleans but nevertheless, it is inside a superdome of course, but for the people tailgating outside partly cloudy conditions and 63 degrees. pretty similar conditions locally

we are looking across toward the city. we have excellent visibility and we are also looking the other direction toward oakland from the city in our rooftop. another nice day. it was sunny and we had chilly temperatures though as we had a boundary move through yesterday. livermore 55. city 54. san jose currently 53. oakland taking the cake today 60. i have zoomed the radar out as wide as i can go. i can't show you one drop of rain on kpix 5 high-def doppler radar. that's been a problem past 39 days. we have had less than half of an inch of rainfall in san francisco. the average during that time frame is 5." we are running at less than 10% of our normal rainfall since christmas. satellite and radar, there is a front coming through but there's a problem. it's not tapping into any moisture. there will be the boundary coming through. we'll get some rain but all the activity is coming down from the north. that's a drier flow. need to bring some moisture up from the south. with this front, we're not. so we're going to get some sh

the way to new orleans, and now, he's finally at the crescent city. mike you are among many 49ers fans who have made the long trek to the super bowl. >> they didn't make it as long as i did. this was the hard way to the big easy, i can guarantee you but my god i'm here. i'm in a beautiful hotel. the price that the station is paying tonight was the same price i paid for all six nights on the road, not that i didn't have fun on the road. my wife and i had a great trip all the way here. let's review a little bit. we left -- january nis and i left on friday night. we got in the car we packed up, and we went down highway 5 and we went all the way down to san bernardino that night where we stayed in an aconic motel which is one of those things left over from highway 66 and san bernardino. we had a good night's sleep there. next stop was the london bridge in arizona. they brought the entire london bridge over piece by piece and built it just to make it a tourist attraction to get people in the desert. the next night probably the stupidest night of the trip,

this is a corroboration between the redwood city school district and the police department here on the peninsula. the redwood city police department basically trying to make campuses here on the peninsula safer and better prepared in case an active shooter were to attack. as part of the plan police are encouraging the patrol officers to adopt their elementary school asking officers to visit the school in their patrol zone on a daily basis to become familiar with teachers and students and the layout of the campus. they will make sure to keep a gunman from entering school grounds. elementary, nothing to sign. in addition, educators would be trained. they will train in march and april how to handle the situation. the schools are looking at a comprehensive response plan to include police, fire, hospitals and other first responders. in august or september the police and district will conduct a full scale drill on one of the campuses. allowing teachers and students to practice their lockdown procedures while training police on how to respond tactfully in termses of protecting the children an
